My fellow Doges and Degens,

It is with great pleasure that I wish you a happy launch anniversary on this fine day of 4/20, when many a doge and degen alike enjoy some space/time to relax.

Very zen.

This year, perhaps more than ever, we really need a space to go to where we can just calm down. Feel welcome and check in with online friends. Who are doges. And degens.

Dogen wants to build that place where doges and degens alike can feel at home. And be free to work on Dogen’s collective mission of bringing doges to DeFi, DeFi to doges, and doges into the Metaverse.

For the first time, those who can educate and motivate themselves will be almost entirely free to invent their own work and realize the full benefits of their own productivity. Genius will be unleashed, freed from both the oppression of government and the drags of racial and ethnic prejudice. In the Information Society, no one who is truly able will be detained by the ill-formed opinions of others. It will not matter what most of the people on earth might think of your race, your looks, your age, your sexual proclivities, or the way you wear your hair. In the cybereconomy, they will never see you. The ugly, the fat, the old, the disabled will view the young and beautiful on equal terms in utterly color blind anonymity on the new frontiers of cyberspace.
The information age will be the age of upward mobility. It will afford far more equal opportunity for the billions of humans in parts of the world that never shared fully in the prosperity of industrial society.

2. The Dogen Dojo

The Dogen Dojo is Dogen’s metaverse on Harmony.

The Dogen Dojo is a place of zen.

Doges and degens can visit Dogen Dojo to coordinate Dogen’s missions, learn and teach lessons in web3, and play PvP games using 3D NFT doges from Dogen drops. The Dogen Dojo will integrate third-party NFTs like Cosmic Wizards, Harmonauts, Cool Cats, and Bored Apes based on votes from dogens in the Dogen DAO.

Today, on this fine one-year anniversary of Dogen’s launch, Dogen can look back with a grin — Dogen has already been the #1 most active token-based governance community on Snapshot, released the most valuable token of all time, and hit >$1M TVL and >$1M MC within 5 days of launch, and journeyed across three blockchains to find a home in Harmony — and look forward with a smile: Dogen is transcending.

Dogen was born 1 year ago today with the mission of bringing doges to DeFi…and DeFi to doges!

With a series of easy-to-follow and beginner-friendly lessons on farming using dog coins, providing liquidity, token-based governance, using bridges, and interacting with smart contracts on block explorers, Dogen pioneered a friendly approach to crypto, making web3 so easy a dog could do it and teaching many new people how to DeFi.

Today, on its 1 year birthday, Dogen has a new mission: bringing doges to the Metaverse…and the Metaverse to Doges!

Dogen was a fair launch. DOGEN tokens were emitted from a MasterDog smart contract on Ethereum modeled on the MasterChef from Sushiswap in a 100% fair launch modeled after the launch of Yearn. The MasterDog rewarded DOGEN to stakers of DOGE and an ever-growing selection of dog-related LP tokens such as SHIB-ETH-Univ2. When friendly new dog tokens were released and verified by the Dogen community to not be scams, the Dogen community voted via Snapshot on whether to add them to the MasterDog’s reward pools, directing DOGEN emissions through token-based voting in a proto-DAO.

Then Dogen migrated. When Ethereum gas fees rose to levels beyond what’s acceptable for beginner farmers interacting with Dogen’s smart contracts on a daily basis during the height of dog coin summer 2021, which found it’s apex on the fateful day when Vitalik Buterin in a rage against the high fees sold millions of dollars worth of dog coins, Dogen community migrated towards Harmony.

On the way to Harmony, Dogens stopped in the fertile fields of Binance Smart Chain, where there were many new dogs and some old friends of Dogen, released a bscMasterDog to share DOGEN with them, and then came to Harmony, launching an hMasterDog to reward stakers on Harmony with tokens to govern the coming Dogen DAO on Harmony.

When Dogens arrived on Harmony, they encountered a problem. They came from 2 chains, Ethereum and BSC, so the Harmony bridge made 2 different wrapped tokens: 1DOGEN from Ethereum and bscBDOGEN from BSC. We solved the multi-bridged token problem by deploying a converter smart contract based on Banteg’s Woofy smart contract, allowing the user to deposit 1DOGEN or bscBDOGEN and receive hDOGEN or vice versa. We filled the hMasterDog with hDOGEN to reward Harmony stakers with the new consolidated governance token, hDOGEN, to govern the Harmony Dogen DAO.

Harmony is the perfect home for Dogen. Harmony’s low fees and quick finality make it beginner-friendly and Harmony’s EVM-compatibility makes it a perfect home base for Dogen’s community journeys through the multi-chain system. Dogen core community members, who first migrated to Harmony with Dogen, went on to serve key roles in nascent Harmony metaverse successes DeFi Kingdoms and Cosmic Wizards. Key Harmony employees and community members took interest in Dogen and encouraged us to build more for the degens and doges in the Harmony community.

But then, after finding a home in Harmony, Dogens encountered a bigger problem. The Dogen Dev, a virtuous anon, disappeared one day during the pandemic, never to be heard from again. Though Dogen’s smart contracts on Harmony and the other chains and front ends on dogen.finance and elsewhere are deployed and functioning, Dogen needs help for its next steps.

Dogen’s mission of bringing doges to DeFi and DeFi to doges is more important now than ever. Millions of new users are being onboarded to web3 and crypto and need a friendly community to be a part of where they can learn the ropes of DeFi, NFTs, bridging, tokens and token-based governance. Dogen wants to build its dream of a home in the metaverse for all doges and degens, where web3 beginners and crypto veterans alike feel welcome, to come, stay, and play.
